Konark festival (Dec 1-5)

The Annual Konark festival is a mega celebration among the festivals of Odisha showcasing various classical dance forms from India inspired with the brilliant backdrop of the sun temple in the background.

Rath Yatra (June – July)

The most important festival of Odisha, The rath yatra or the car festival is the grandest of all festivals in Odisha. It is the sacred journey of Lord Jagannath, with brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra from the Jagannath Temple to another shrine called as Gundicha Temple. Lakhs of devotees from all over India and abroad throng on that day at Puri to pull the sacred chariots.

Mahashivaratri (Feb – March)

Considered to be one of the most important festivals of Odisha. On this day devotees worship Lord Shiva and observe fasting and perform Puja throughout the night and keep a vigil to witness the sacred lamp burning on the temple top. The festival can be enjoyed at Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar.

Adivasi Mela ( January 26 to 31st )

Adivasi Mela is organized in the city of Bhubaneswar. A large exhibition of products and cultural programs from the tribal districts of Odisha are organized here. Tribals from different parts of the state come here to display their folk dances and drama. Models of tribal architecture, irrigation and agriculture are an attraction in this fair.

Parab

Parab is one of the most colorful festivals of Odisha, organized to highlight the cultural tradition of Odisha. Parab is held every year at the district of Koraput.

Makar Mela (January)

Makar Sankranti is celebrated with gusto in Mid – January. The Sun god is worshiped with great enthusiasm by one and all. The festival can be best enjoyed at Kalijai (An island in Chilika Lake).

Lok Mohotsava ( January 4-6 )

To bring the folk dances and music of Odisha to limelight , the Lok Mahotsava is organized every year at Gangadhar Mandap in the town of Sambalpur for 3 days.
